Resolutions

It is that time of the year to start fresh. Or it your own filth if it was a good party last night. It is also the time to make resolutions. I came across a posting on Economics and New Year’s Resolutions. It has an interesting discussion on why resolutions tend to fail. And fail quickly. I think people have a tendency to micromanage their resolutions. They plan them to the finest detail. And if one small detail fails then the resolution comes down like a house of cards. The devil really does exist in the details. I am not going to make any specific resolutions for myself. I am going to come up with an idea (or two) here. It is going to be a “work in progress” year. I do not want to go into much if any depth on them at this time. It more of an “idea” than anything else right now. The first part is the idea I touched on in an earlier post. I am going to face “my mountain”. The other thing is to become “more satisfied”. I guess it is going to be more about “the journey” than anything else. I do not want to get into the trap of defining them in great detail. I think it should be more based on what is yet to be “discovered”. I also should let myself have a chance to make “adjustments” based on the “current conditions” of where I find myself at the moment. 365 days from now I may be able to fully explain what I meant here.

Remember the old adage. “Rome was not built in a day”. And my life is not exactly a Toga Party.
