A few points to start.
I have not had anything “grand” on the radar in regards to writing recently. Just more notes to be “assembled” at a future date and time. In other words, I do not know either on that at the moment. I need get focus on something with it though.
I have been reading A Dance with Dragons by George R.R. Martin which is the fifth volume in the Songs of Fire and Ice series. I love the story as it continues along. There are a lot of characters and plot points to “digest”. So the book has been occupying more time for me. 900 pages of a book can also have that effect.
However, it does not mean that my mind has not had the time to “wander”.
I want to say that some people from time to time ask me “How does my family respond to these postings?”
And here is the honest truth. They Don’t. In fact, I don’t even mention it to them. They are who they are. And do something like this is something they really will not take the effort to understand. So to state it another way.
Why make trouble? And what would it change anyways?
Here is my Holiday Statement.
I am not a fan of the Holiday Season. Too many benchmark dates in a short period of time to keep up with. It is also not a time period that accepts people like me anyways. It is a “Loud and in your face”. It is a time that seems to grow more and more each year when it comes to the “expectations” of it. However, for my family it is dealing with “the empty chair” that is there because of my Dad’s passing. And no one wants to deal with the new “tradition” that it will become this year. Thanksgiving dinner will be at a friend of my Mom’s house this year. I just do not know what to expect out it this year. So I am not really thinking about it. It is nice that she offered .The only thing it means this year is that I will not be taking home any extra leftover turkey. I kind of enjoy turkey sandwiches and the extra naptime they induce.
The other part that bugs the shit out me when it comes to the Holidays is that the season is really Dictated by the “Married with Children” crowd. (It may because we “single” people get to sleep in) They are almost “Militant” in their “December Agenda”. But then again being able “To Punch the Get Out of Jail Free Card” by buying a lot of gifts only happens once a year.
Plus, it is a very “Extraverted” Event that every little detail needs to be shouted out and shone with flashing lights. The “introvert” in me cannot seem to find the remote to just “tone it down a bit”. And can the never ending stream of Christmas music be broken up every now and then with some Led Zeppelin or AC/DC songs.
This mentality is something that seems to bring together both Democrats and Republicans. I am now somewhat of a “political prisoner” in this Season due to what is known as “The Tyranny of the Majority”. Look it up. Then send me a bottle with a file in it so I can work on an escape.
The “Spirit of the Holiday” is not going to be strengthened nor will it be broken based solely on my level of participation in it. I just have come to have a more “reasonable level of expectation” that day. It comes down to. I know what I want. I know what I need. However, I am even more aware of the “chasm” of what I am going to be able to actually get out of it all.
“It is what it is” (Been repeating this phrase a lot lately)
So just…..LET ME BE.
I just want to watch a movie without being hassled.
No hidden message. It is just that simple.
