Channel Surfing

This week I am earning a few dollars filling out a survey of my radio listening routines for Arbitron. They are the ones who rate radio stations for rankings according to the amount of listeners. All they are going to learn from me is that I listen to a lot of podcasts and streaming. The only time, I listen to local terrestrial radio is when I am in the truck. And all I do is channel surf. All the radio in this city suffer from the same thing boring and repetitive playlists or talk that is just meant to “incite” rather than “inform”.  DJ’s are mostly “generic” and easily interchangeable.

I “surfed” into this song.

Goo Goo Dolls are originally from Buffalo. They were a big band here at the time that just never was able to really break out nationally until this song came out.

I always did like the song. It reminds me of memories both good and bad that I have. And they both are attached to people who go shall go “unnamed” by myself.

I found this line in the song a bit ironic.

“A tired song keeps playing on a tired radio”. And this song is about 20 years old now. If radio was tired back then what is it now?  Probably some form of “audio necrophilia”.

It was then it was followed by this song.

It might be the best segue way I have heard on the radio in a while.
