Tethered

It was going to happen.

I finally caved to the social pressure.

I finally got a cell phone after all these years.

It is just how the world operates. I recently had to have some work done on my truck. It was a day of play “voice mail tag” trying to coordinate the process. I finally realized how much effort was being expelled. And there was a simple way to be more effective.

I am not a person who gets a lot of phone calls anyways. But I need to get away from the house more. However, I have tenants and things happen so they needed a better way to get in touch with me.

Now I have yet another thing to lug around and another thing to worry about charging up. Every day, I travel with the laptop and Kindle in the backpack along with the notepads and books. I have to develop more effective habits to be more efficient and effective with my “mobile office”. The problem is where I work is not the best place now to find time. There are new offices going in on the floor above me. This has caused a daily trouble of ceiling pieces falling down and pipe leaks. Plus, the noise levels this has caused are giving me headaches. It is frustrating not being able to find an “adaptive solution”.

Enough of that for today.

The cell phone is just another tool. It is not a status symbol for me.

I may be coming “Borg”. And it did not take long to “adapt”.

I update my Twitter Feed so I have reading material in the bathroom.

Now I have to figure out how to use it as Wi-Fi hotspot so I can get work done on the website/blog.

The cell phone industry knows what dogs have known for a long time.
